Many of you out there are still basking in the afterglow of gathering with thousands of like-minded Amercans to express your displeasure with the direction in which our nation is heading.
America's core values have served us well for 233 years; but we are being asked to abandon them in the name of "fairness".
It is not fair that some people have more money than me. (Actually a lot of people have more money than me.)
It is not fair that some people live in better homes than me.
It is not fair that some people drive better cars than me.
It is not fair that some people have better medical insurance than me.
There are many things in this life that are unfair. So what?
Anyone who told you life was fair lied to you. We don't seek "fairness" from our government; we seek justice.
Our constitution doesn't promise equality of outcome, it promises equality of opportunity.
If your college age kids have trouble with this concept, ask them to give up a point on their GPA to kids who didn't study as hard in the name of fairness. Sure, you may not make it into medical school with a lower GPA, but gosh darn it wouldn't you just feel better for the kids who were partying for four years?:
That American core value of rewarding the work ethic and talent of a person is what built our great nation. And we are being asked to throw it all away in favor of a big government solution that spreads around the prosperity to those who haven't earned it.
So where do we go next?
We go next door and talk to our neighbors, and tell them why we believe in less government, fiscal responsibility and the free enterprise system. We embark on a crusade (and quite frankly I don't care if that word is poorly received by third worlders living a ffth century lifestyle with 21st century weapons) to revitalize the values that made America great.
If we do nothing between today and the next round of Tea Party's on July 4th, we will have lost ground we may never make up. This is either a movement back to the future of American core values on which we can all agree, or it is a small gathering of angry people who lost the election - and their country - through apathy.
Go do the hard work. Go knock on doors and show your neighbors not only your passion, but the logic behind it. Big government, fiscal irresponsibility and the nanny state are the road to perdition. A government that gives you everything will also take everything away from you when it becomes politically expedient.
Go do the hard work of growing this movement, or watch it become a political "one hit wonder" with no legs.
The future of our country is literally in your hands.
Make a list of ten people with whom you are going to visit and discuss three topics:
The Free Market
Fiscal Responsibility
Limited Government
Read up on those topics and come prepared to discuss them.
If you do that, together we will change the world...MSNBC notwithstanding.
